Folks,

I hope all is well with everyone. Here is an update for folks who are wondering about the progress regarding the MJC Q400. As we mentioned in our previous post a few months ago, work is progressing. The following images that are being shared are "renders only" and not in-Sim images.

We will be providing MSFS screens when it is permissible to do so.

FS Version: P3D V5.4
Add-on: Majestic Q400 Training edition
AIRAC Update No: 2507 rev 1

The EFB sync from the Simbrief OFP is a great feature. Unfortunately not all the fuel values are transferred, although they are available at the Simbrief OFP. Especially Alternate, Hold and Extra are not set.

Find enclosed a Simbrief OFP and how it's transferred to the fuel page:

Time sure does fly and in that time we are seeing flight simulation evolve into a platform that surpasses what we as a community thought would have been possible this soon. For this we along with many other developers are happy for the technological advancements and we are starting to see development teams continuously raise the bar. Systems complexity is at a level that now allows us to push the envelope even farther, an engine that allows a new realm of visual capabilities, and the list goes on and on. During this time Majestic has had a chance to reflect on the roadmap ahead, and while our team is small we embrace the changes, challenges and are focused on bringing the Q400, Q300 and other variants, very likely the Q200 to the MSFS platform.

2024 has been a year that has been very busy for all of us here at Majestic Software, and we have seen/experienced several changes surrounding our business model. Unfortunately our 3D designer was no longer able to continue working with us, so work in that area was put on hold. We are working towards a new team and plan on getting back into full work mode once this has been finalized.

Progress:
It is no secret by now but as most of you already know the Q400 for the MSFS platform will be a port-over, and while we anticipated a heavy workload, the more we dug into what was required we realized that the only thing that we could carry forward from the existing Q400 was the systems logic and to some extent the sounds. Everything else including the vector graphics, along with a re-design of the visual model has to be re-done.

Present State:
At this point we have already completely re-worked all of the EFIS screens and integrated the custom flight dynamics into the MSFS aircraft. We have also introduced an EFB which will be available to MSFS versions and Prepar3D, and it will include Navigraph Charts integration. Some readers are going to throw shade at the P3D engine or the fact that we still develop for it, but bear in mind we service this platform not only on the edutainment spectrum, but also the Commercial as well.

Ready State:
A timeline on when this project will be close to completion will not be discussed at this time as we will not be, nor never have falsified hope on release dates. We are hoping that we can near completion sooner than planned, but we do not foresee being close to completion till sometime in 2025 "if everything goes as planned". Many folks are bantering/suggesting that we partner with other developers but that is not something that we can easily do for business reasons not to be discussed.

As I have mentioned previously MJC will not be giving weekly/bi-weekly etc. regarding updates on the momentum of the project. Many may not agree with our stance or approach in sharing our progress, but we most certainly will give updates as we see fit. Being a small team we do have other obligations and priorities apart from the business side of Majestic Software. As the development phase gets closer to Beta testing we will share some images of our progress.

We are thankful everyone's patience and support and we too are eager to see what MSFS 2020/2024 holds in store for the MJC product line.

Cheers.

Fellow MJC Q400 Pilots

Please note that this is an update specifically for Prepar3D v4.x or later, only.

Announcing the release of Majestic Software's Electronic Flight Book Addon for Prepar3D v4.x or later.

The Electronic Flight Book (EFB) is an addon to the MJC8 Q400 aircraft that allows a pilot to calculate the performance data based on the actual or planned conditions. The EFB can run on the local network on any web browser, or inside the Virtual Cockpit as a 2D window. The EFB addon can be purchased from one of the Majestic Software vendor affiliates:
- Aerosoft
- Simmarket
- Just Flight
- Real Flight Shop

Compatibility:
- All 64bit versions of the MJC8-Q400 for Prepar3D v4.x or later

Data sources, synchronization and SimBrief flight plans:
- The EFB collects as much data as possible for the performance calculations, only querying the pilot for the data that is not currently available.

The data for the performance calculations comes from the following sources:
- Current conditions at the aircraft location, such as QNH, winds, temperature, available fuel and weights
- FMS flight plan - for example the departure/arrival runway, FPL winds
- SimBrief operational flight plan (OFP)
The aircraft EFIS speed bugs can be synchronized with the takeoff and landing speeds calculated by the EFB

Shared cockpit support
- If the Shared Cockpit is active and the OFP import is done by the Master party, the fuel page on the Slave instance will also update with the OFP data.
- The fuel and weight data from OFP is also propagated to the aircraft state and to the Shared cockpit slave party.

Units supported:
- The units presented on the EFB page are synchronized with the metric/imperial units setting in the Control Panel of the Q400 addon

Note: This addon requires the MJC 8 Q400 version 1.026a (x64) or above to run. Please proceed to the SUPPORT page at http://majesticsoftware.com in order to download the 1.026a version patch for your Q400 addon.

Additional Information regarding MSFS 2020/2024:

Development on the Q400 is on going but we are still in the process of working to source a modeler to begin on the tasks that need to be done, which will be very time consuming. as progress on this becomes available we will share more information when we deem it necessary to do so.

The aircraft on the back end works very well with MSFS2020 although there will need to be some additional work for MSFS2024 as it is fairly new to us as it has new technologies that will certainly provide new opportunities for development.

Happy Flying!!

Hi, I just downloaded the Majestic 8Q400 Pro v5. After completing the Control Panel Flight Config and checking off the Ready to Taxi block, it's not working for me. This is a brand new Jetlines PC I am setting up. It's Windows 11 and everything except the Ready to Taxi works as expected. This is the first time in all the years I've flown the Dash 8 this has happened. In reading the Forum, I see where this may be related in getting v-5 installed. I'm hoping maybe there is a button or switch somewhere I just need to turn on. I do note that every time I check this block, the next time I open to Ready to Taxi it is unchecked. Appreciate the help, Mike Nicholson, San Antonio, TX

Hello All,

Life in the simulation world for Majestic Software lives on, however it has been at a very slow pace due to several reasons, some of which I will address. This post is primarily to provide an update regarding where we are and our outlook for development with the flight simulation platforms moving forward.

FSX & Prepar3D v3.x:
Yes, we still have users who still actively use FSX & P3D 32bit platforms, however while we will still support active products developed for FSX and P3D v3 we will not be doing any further development for those simulation platforms.

Prepar3D v4.x & v5.x:
We will continue to support the Q400 in v4.5/5.x and very likely the next version offered by Lockheed Martin. Regarding further development (additional features, etc.) of the Q400 for P3D will not likely continue as the TRAINING and COCKPIT Editions have been released as planned, but of course updates when completed will continue. We did however mention several months back that we would push an update for the virtual cockpit, this is still the in the works but there have been some delays in getting this completed.

While MSFS is the newer simulation platform for which many are drawn to, Prepar3D offers unique features not yet applicable to MSFS which makes it a viable platform for MJC's TRAINING and COCKPIT Editions, and we very likely will continue development for the P3D platform as well, however it would be fair to say that P3D development will be subject for evaluation which would depend upon how well the platform will be supported by the customers in the future.

The Q300 v2 project is still on the drawing board and is very much alive, but at a slow pace as well.

MSFS 2020:
Flight Simulator 2020 has certainly made considerable strides over the last two years and the team has been feverishly working on updates making the platform more accessible for development.

Q400:
Folks frequently interject we used the SDK as an excuse for bringing the Q400 into MSFS and at the time of its initial release that was very much the case for us to be able to implement porting the Q400 over to MSFS. As each update is pushed by Asobo's team many things are improved thus allowing for progress. There are still a few things that we require which I am sure will be eventually addressed.

We will be pushing the Q400 to MSFS as a port over as mentioned previously, and this required our developer to completely re-write the code for the gauges and systems which is not a quick process and will be the major delaying component of the project (very much the same as almost starting from scratch). It would be unrealistic to provide a timeline for when we would like to see this port over ready for delivery at this time. However, once this phase is complete we can look at the Alpha testing phase.

Q300 v2:
This I think is one of the most anticipated aircraft that we have on our development board, which will be done from scratch for MSFS. This project's development will ramp up once the Q400 port over to MSFS is complete. The same is to be said of the other variants such as the 100/200.

As some of you already know the MJC is a small team of developers who also have daily jobs and families. So, the fast-paced development that is expected from some of the other dev teams is in no way feasible with the size of the MJC dev team. A timeline at this time of project completion cannot be provided, but when we are satisfied with the progress of projects in work we will provide updates with images and or video relating to such.

For many this may not quite be the news that was expected but we will get there.

Cheers

I am completely knew to majestic software and LM's p3d. I have a completely fresh install of P3Dv6 and I tried to install the q400 training edition. The installer was unable to find the p3d install location and so I told it where to look. During the installation I got an error for prepare3d simconnect distributable " This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vender to verify that this is a valid windows installer package". After closing the error it appears to install the q400 and there is now a microsoft flight simulator x folder in the p3d install location. However when I try to select the q400 plane it is not listed with the rest of the vehicles nor is there anything in the addons tab in settings. After some looking online I tried running the FSX-SP2-XPACK, FSX-RTM and FSX-SP1 msi files that were in the redist folder. This does not seam to have changed anything. I then tried to install the 1.025a-64 patch. It found the p3d install location but then told me that v1.025 of the q400 addon was not installed.

Hopefully I am just making a stupid error somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This post is not an update regarding progress of the MJC Q400 for MSFS 2020, but work still is on-going and we will share info when it is time to do so.

We have released an updated version (1.025) for Prepar3D v5.x & in development v6. There are some interaction issues on the P3D v4.x platform that are not correctable so our support will be primarily for v5.x and v6.x when it becomes an active version by LM, this however does not prevent one from using ver 4.x, as it is still considered to be backwards compatible.

There have been users providing misleading information among various user groups speaking to LM's newer P3D v6 which is currently in development. Yes, our new installer does show an option for the new version but this was merely for our in-house testing purposes. Majestic does not have any information or knowledge as to when LM plans on releasing the newer version, nor would we share/hint any info even if we knew as it is not information for us to share.

The updated version can be obtained from your User Area on the official Majestic Software website.

With the official release of Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2020 just hours away we decided it was time to provide our intentions for the upcoming platform. We are pleased to see that Microsoft has ventured back into the Flight Simulator arena, and we anticipate that we too shall be developing our products for MSFS2020.

We were not active participants of the Alpha or Beta testing process so we don't have much insight regarding the inner workings of the platform, we have been patiently awaiting an SDK, but will more than likely have to wait for an official version to be released. before determining how we move forward. That being said, we can not and will not provide a time frame as to how soon the Q300 or Q400 will enter the MSFS 2020 arena, BUT we will certainly be joining the band-wagon with the PILOT, PRO and TRAINING Editions (we'll have to evaluate the COCKPIT Edition to see how that will work.)

Development & Support:
Development for the P3D 64bit platform will however continue, and there will be continued "support" for all versions of the 32bit platforms (FSX and P3D) as well as the current 64bit versions.

We are finally getting closer to a Beta release for testing as the development of the FDR functionality nears completion. In a few weeks, we'll show some footage of the FDR functionality which can be used for various applications (be it professional or for fun), i.e, reviewing departure and approach performance profiles, VA's can also see its benefit by reviewing a Shared Cockpit check rides, and the list goes on.

We thank you all for your continued support and we look to the exhilarating future with the new MSFS 2020.

The time is finally here! The Majestic Software Cockpit Edition has been distributed to our vendors and should be available within the next 24 – 48 hours.

The COCKPIT edition is developed primarily for the cockpit builder looking for in-depth simulation solutions and the feasibility of configuring/integrating complex hardware setups.

The COCKPIT edition includes the functionality and features of the MJC8Q400 PRO edition, plus the following:

FLIGHT CONTROLS DISCONNECT SIMULATION
The flight controls can be disconnected and the respective independent flight controls system will account for the pilot flying position (based upon the pilot head position in the Virtual Cockpit, or the type of the main panel in the 2D cockpit). The disconnect option is designed to operate correctly in both virtual or hardware-based cockpits

FMS RAIM SIMULATION
FMS provides RAIM prediction and simulates the changing GPS accuracy accordingly

CUSTOM FLIGHT DATA RECORDER
The Flight Data Recorder (2D panel) can be used to record and visually reproduce a flight, allowing for classroom demonstration or analysis of the particular phases of the operation during your SIM session.

SINGLE CUE FLIGHT DIRECTOR
Single Cue or Dual Cue flight director modes can now be selected via the CPAN.

SURFACE SLOPES SUPPORT
The aircraft will now correctly interact with sloped surfaces allowing for the correct visuals and physics, which have been integrated into the Q400 FDE.

I tried to fly twice on more than two hours, always crashing to the ground at the height of the landing gear. But the crash would not have occurred in an hour's flight. The second bug is that the co pilot nd display circuit diagram is not synchronized with the captain nd, or sometimes disappears. The third problem is that if the external viewing angle is switched during nd level flight at the left captain position, the nd display will be black after returning to the cockpit again. Hope to get your attention and solve it. Because it is not easy to support the genuine version under the epidemic, and I like the q400 aircraft very much. thank you

Fellow Aviators,

The year is closing in to an end, and we would like to share some exciting news from the MJC development team.

The "long-awaited/anticipated" TRAINING Edition of the MJC8 Q400 is in the final beta testing stages and is scheduled to be released around the end of November this year (provided that no major snags are encountered). Customers who already own a PRO edition of our Q400, a special discount will be provided from the vendor from which you made your original purchase. The release will be supported by all participating online stores and the functionality can be found on the product-page

While this was a planned to-do-task, we know that many folks were not pleased with the level of detail provided in the Visual Extension Package, so we are implementing a significant re-design of the Virtual Cockpit of the Q400 for the P3D platform. Changes to be expected will for done on the 3D objects and cockpit structural elements (roof, walls and so on) including the instruments. Both the instrument texts and the EFIS screens resolution will be improved.

Completion of this phase of the VEP upgrade will be released for free to the owners of the Visual Extension package, as well as the Training edition of the Q400.

Stay tuned for the progress updates

Fellow Captains & First Officers,

It has been a while since our last update, but this one is going to be short and simple. The title speaks for itself and we are not releasing any information regarding any other simulator platform or DeHavilland variant at this time - needless to say questions asked of such will be ignored.

A few months ago we put out a feeler for items that the community would like to see and so we have decided to provide some enhancements to the visual aspect of the aircraft. This post will only show some early work that has begun in the cabin, and so we decided to provide a few early development images.

Fellow Airmen,

Well, November is upon us and almost coming to an end. We hope that everyone is doing their best to stay safe and follow required protocols in doing so when and where possible.

That being said the raging question in the room "what is the status of the TRAINING Edition"? We had hoped that by this time we would have been getting ready for an official release, but unfortunately, that is not the case. The development progress of the MJCQ400 Training/Cockpit Edition was temporarily stopped due to adaptations required for the PILOT & PRO Editions prior to the official release of Prepar3D v5. We still await LM's implementation of the PDK feature set required for full functionality of the Control Panel (CPAN), which we hoped would have been addressed in v5.1.

We are still working on, but getting closer to the completion of the FDR (Flight Data Recorder) functionality. Many have asked so what is so important about the FDR and why can it not be added later. Implementing a good quality Flight video recording feature requires numerous changes to the communication platform of the Q400, which affects all of the systems, and for this reason, it can not be postponed until after the release.

As most of you are aware there is now a Cockpit Edition and this too is being worked on alongside the TRAINING Edition and coming along quite well. While many are still asking about estimated release times, this is simply a path that we dare not venture on as estimates for tentative release are often postponed causing more disappointment among the community.

Our plan moving forward:
Upon completion of the TRAINING/COCKPIT Editions ALL versions of the Q400 add-on will be updated. We are looking into a few visual enhancements and also addressing some of the outstanding bugs. So what we plan on doing is getting some feedback from you our users to see what enhancements for the Q400 would like to be seen (yes, we know TrueGlass and PBR are among the top few). A SUGGESTIONS post has been created in the forum allowing users to provide some input. Granted not everything will be added, but we'll look at the more practical and feasible ones for consideration.

Regarding FS 2020 there really isn't anything further to add from what we expressed in our previous post. Asobo seems to be busy updating the platform which is always a good thing, and we can only hope that in the background an SDK allowing for our continued development on this platform will become available.
