Why do you kick me out?

Every few weeks I am greated by "Howdy Stranger" an must sign in newly, despite visiting the forum regularely. Does this make any Sense?

    It makes sense if you have not selected the "keep me signed in" box below your login credentials. We have not kicked out anybody.

    Nothing has changed.

    The cookie that validates if you are logged in or not has probably got an expiration date.

    Today I was again recognised to be a stranger despite "keep me signed in" is marked. How can I find and influence an expiration date?

    If its any comfort I also gets logged out from time to time.
