Q400 Elevator trim issue.

I have bound 2 keys in JConf application, one for elevator trim down and the other for elevator trim up, but when i attempt to trim the aircraft in the simulator, the trim does not change and the indication does not move, but if I keep holding one of the trim buttons down, the aircraft beeps at me followed by a "PUSH" light on the "ELEVATOR TRIM SHUT OFF" button.

How can I rectify this issue, the aircraft is unflyable without this function working.

    This issue unfortunately can not be rectified due to the fact that it is controlled both by the pilot and the autopilot. We ran into issues where by users were experiencing nose dive events which was the reason for the decision made to have the elevator trim assigned via the simulator or FSUIPC if needed..
