MFD1 and MFD2 flight path => problem

I have been struggling with this issue for a couple of hours now.

I set the FMC ok, FPL ok. For some reason, the NAV flight path only appears on MFD2 and MFD1 shows a red X.

I have tried all possible switches and knobs to make MFD1 show the flight path but cannot find a way.

Any clues?
