  • I get the same thing in FSX. It has not caused any problems
  • @ckyliu said: Yep, rudder trim. It's not such an issue at higher speeds, but at lower speed you've get a big yaw moment with every power change caused by both propellers spinning in the same direction. It takes some work to keep the slip/skid ind…
  • I'm not sure I follow. By rudder input do you mean rudder trim? Obviously, power changes require elevator trim to remain in level flight.
  • My main problem hand flying the Q400 in addition to the fact that it is a plane which requires close attention is the lack of yoke pressure. So I find that I am spending an inordinate amount of time looking at the instruments - not a good thing when…
  • I did a little reading and it appears that in real life most of the time this plane is flown on AP. Even using AP I certainly don't get bored. My other planes seem easy compared to the Q400.
  • I run the Pilot edition and have not seen this so far. I know how maddening these things can be. One thing I do before each flight is load the default Cessna 172 before loading the Q400. I also fly the Beechcraft B200 from Flight One and they inclu…
  • @JvanE said: You could try to do a DTO (direct to) to the first way of the approach. Do this when you are at the last way point that the FMS does show. This should make the approach appear on the FMS. The problem popped up again and I tri…
  • Since I'm not interested in simulating failures ( I do that quite well anyway) that makes the hotas more viable. I like the idea of more buttons too.
  • I've looked at that and it looks like a viable option. Thrustmaster has just come out with a new throttle controller which combined with a stick creates a Hotas. It can also be used with their rudder pedals. A hotas is probably less useful for civi…
  • I will try that next time this happens. Thanks for response.
  • @JvanE said: @hhatch said: When the magenta V appeared I set altitude and hit alt sel. What am I doing wrong ? Don't hit alt sel! When in VNAV the plane will hold all constraints automatically so you do not…
  • @veeze said: Yours has autoland? Well I don't think it is autoland which can just about put you on the runway. However, if you have nav source set to localizer (vor 1) and come in above the glide slope when the plane intercepts and app ha…
  • Well I figured I did something stupid and I did. I was hitting the nav button instead of the app button when I switched nav source to vor 1. I was so used to the app button being used for autoland that I just ignored it.
  • That would have some value but it still will not tell me what the localizer frequency is for the runway I'm using to land. I would assume if I input the localizer frequency from a current approach chart and it was different from what was in the fms …
  • Thanks for that explanation. I have almost no experience with fms so this is all new to me.
  • @lgl3592 said: Flybe usually remove the disco after the SID, but leave the pre-STAR and pre-Trans discos in until theyre cleared for the arrival. And as another user already said, the discos behind the landing runway and the Missed Appch Proc sho…
  • Yes, I found it and that seemed to work. Thx.
  • I flew jets for a long time and never used auto throttle until recently so I am used to keeping track of that element. I do have EZ Dock which I think will help. The thing I have the most trepidation about is the fmc. I have little experience in tha…
  • One of the reasons I am looking at this plane is the complexity so that I would be kept busy. I wanted a regional aircraft for shorter flights so I would not have to read a book during some trans atlantic flight. I plowed through the A 10c Warthog w…
  • Thank you for the info. Very helpful.
