I have the exact same here whenever I load the plane at the default location (no matter where it is) . Placing it on another spot, even on the same airport, prevents this from happening. Odd indeed but luckily easily avoidable. Just never start a fl…

I doubt if this plane is flown manually in real life that far out...? I always fly on AP almost up to minimals. Things are hard enough as they are already.
-
You only have to check the gear pins when you use the cold and dark state. With the boarding, taxi and take off state the gear pins will be stowed already. Some people have a rare not reproducable bug though whete the gears seem to be still installe…

Press and HOLD the FORMAT button for one or two seconds. To remove it press and hold the FORMAT button again.

I am not sure what different choices you mean...? What I see on your screenshot I already see in my sim. Apart from that ATC screen on the first screenshot, which I suppose is from an ATC addon and has nothing to do with the Q400...? If you mean tha…

@bravomike said: Also, it's the ARCDU (Audio and Radio Control Dislay Unit) Oops, LOL, my bad! ARCDU indeed, of course! This (luckily) isn't an Airbus.

On the MCDU press and HOLD the button on the right of SBY (the button you also use to activate and switch the squawk code) and SBY will switch to ON ALT. Do the same again to switch back to SBY.

Haha, VNAV all the time, V/S during vectors... So there is no best way to get things done. I get the Alerter above message even when I set a lower altitude before I get to the VNAV intercept path (which I of course alwasy do). So I am certainly …

Interesting question. I own XP but don't have it installed. One of the main reasons is the fact there is no version of the Majestic Q400 for it. It's the only plane I fly and XP is useless to me without it.

@hhatch said: The problem popped up again and I tried your suggestion and it worked. Thanks for saving me some aggravation. I still wonder if this is some sort of bug or I am doing something to cause it. I also have this from time to …

You could try to do a DTO (direct to) to the first way of the approach. Do this when you are at the last way point that the FMS does show. This should make the approach appear on the FMS.

Wind! If I am right (hard to see on my smartphone) the wind is coming from the left so the plane has to point its nose a bit to the left in order to maintain the set heading. If it would point the nose straight ahead it would be blown off path to th…

Maybe there are more reasons for this bug indeed but in my personal case it's 100% related to the gearpins because after editing the cold and dark state (to stow them automatically) I never ever had this problem again. I do have to add though tha…

@lgl3592 said: I can't tell whether or not those messages appear in real life as often as they do in the sim, but a quick "MSG" and "BACK" on the FMS will get rid of it. Tapping MSG twice is even quicker.

@lgl3592 said: @JvanE Are you sure you have the latest hotfix installed correctly? Yes! I have also reinstalled my entire PC in the meantime (not for this though )and still have this 'problem'.

I don't have that exact issue but things don't really work as they should. On my PC the second door is often opened or closed whenever I click on the 1rd or 3rd door. It's almost as if a random door is opened or closed whenever you click a random bu…

I usually set the altitude shortly before I want to enable VNAV and you can set any lower altitude you want, it doesn't really matter: VNAV needs a lower altitude in order to arm it and once active it completely disregards altitudes you set using th…

There still is something odd going on with VNAV... Just did a flight during which I did set VNAV on the left FMS but didn't use it at all. However, at one moment the right FMS showed the message: Alerter above vnav alt...!? And after landing it said…

@hhatch said: When the magenta V appeared I set altitude and hit alt sel. What am I doing wrong ? Don't hit alt sel! When in VNAV the plane will hold all constraints automatically so you do not need and shouldn't use ALT SEL while…

Aaaaah, okay! I always presumed that a non-moving gear lever was an indication of the pins not being stowed. That little bug got me all confused...! I thought the stuck gear lever was a real life feature, haha! Good to know it's not.

@bravomike said: Yes and the weird thing is that the issue is solved/removed by simply saving and re-loading the scenario without closing the sim. I only load the Q400 in the boarding state, where said line to remove the pins is already included.…

Click on the FMS's DTO button (which stands for DirectTO). You will see a list of all waypoints in your (initial) flightplan. Find the one you want to fly to (you may need to use the NEXT button to see the entire list), type the number of the waypoi…

...double post, sorry...

With an RNAV approach you don't use a localiser and you Arm approach on the FMS (NAV page) and not on the autopilot panel. You are mixing up various methods. RNAV approaches should be done with LNAV and VNAV.

Great information, lgl3592, thanks! I already made a habit of setting the TOD on the VNAV page but descending with VS. I then keep an eye on VNAV to see if I am more or less descending well or not.

I simply remove all No links up to the destination runway. Why would you ever want or need to handfly the plane...? I doubt if there is a company out there that wants his pilots to handfly the plane apart from take off and landing. The AP always goe…
