takeoff flaps

Hi.

Question about takeoff flaps 5,10 or 15.When i must to use 5,10 or 15 ?

If i have short runway about 4000 feet must i use flaps 15 ?

Is there a chart for that ?

  • Hi,

There are few hundred pages of tables regarding take off and landing distances which would take into account a lot of parameters that cannot be reproduced in FSX / P3D. Only the wind, altitude and weight can be taken into consideration with the Sim.

I made out few graphics from the original which are OK for the Sim but not to fly the real plane as there are more parameters that I have omitted and I did some copy and paste where we can have a bit of distorsion in the final results.

Here are the files. They are quite big so please let me know if it works:

To use them, see the sample for flaps 5°. You start with the temperature and the altitude. I made it simple as standard at sea level. No wind and of course no slope as it cannot be reproduced in the Sim.

You start with the temperature 15°C and go up to intercept the altitude (sea level) then horizontally towards the right up to the reference line (purple).
In your case you have a limitative runway (4000') so you draw a line from the right to the left.
Starting from the reference line, go up following the curve until you reach the horizontal line that you draw for the runway lenght.
Then go down (blue line) and find the MAX TOM 24T200 for those parameters.

You can use the graphics starting with the parameter that is the most important for your flight and adjust in respect of the results.

    That's all.
