I don't know why it is not working for you, but here is a workaround ...
First, make a backup of your ini file. Then, make another copy of the ini file on to the Windows desktop. Edit the file there and save it. Then copy it back in to the original folder, over the top of the existing ini file. You will now have a new ini file with your changes, and also a backup in case something unforseen happens.
