Configuration Test

Hi everybody, can someone explain me why the Configuration Test has to be made in "Spoilers to Taxi"-Position?
In my opinion this test is the last one before I can inform the tower to be "Ready for departure". But after this test I am not ready but I have to switch Spoilers to Flight. What might be the intention of the planes developers to make this configurationtest in a configuration which is unable to go up and away?

  • Because, before you fly, FIRST you must taxi to the runway....

    Hello Günther,

The takeoff warning test includes the following points / configurations:

    • Parking brake
    • Flaps <5,> 15
    • ECP not TOP not set
    • CL not in MAX
    • TRIM not in the takeoff area
    • Spoilers

It does not include the control look and the FLIGHT / TAXI switch itself.

If you carried out the takeoff test with the FLIGHT / TAXI switch set to the FLIGHT position, there would be a warning because of the extended spoilers. With the switch in TAXI, the spoilers remain retracted and all other test points / configurations are monitored. If there is no takeoff warning, the settings will fit here. If a warning would sound when the takeoff power was set, theoretically only the spoiler remains. These are extended when the switch is switched to FLIGHT and automatically retract when the start thrust is set. If not, a takeoff warning follows
