ADC test

When performing the ADC test, "TCAS FAIL" seems to be displayed in PFD and MFD for a while, but it is not reproduced with this software. Will it be reproduced in future updates and training versions?

Comments

  • Well spotted! Maybe a change for the training version.

  • The TCAS system is not a part of the ADC TEST.

The ADC test switch (three position, spring loaded to center), located on the pilot’s side console, is used to test the Air Data System. Prior to performing the ADC test, the following items should be configured and checked:

    a. Confirm that the EFIS ADC SOURCE selector switches are in the NORM position

    b. ALT FAIL, IAS FAIL, and IVSI FAIL flags are out on both PFDs ADC TEST SWITCH

    c. Confirm that a valid SAT is displayed on the ED

Holding the switch in the TEST 1 position checks the VMO Warning Tone Generator (WTG) and the related ADU 1 interfaces. While holding the switch in the TEST 1 position observe the following test indications on PFD 1:

    a. barometric altimeter reading changes to 14,360 ft

    b. altimeter barometric setting changes to 29.23 in Hg

    c. VMO is displayed as 284 KIAS

    d. ASI displays 285 KIAS in red

    e. indicated SAT is -15°C on the ED (only displayed at Test 1 position)

    f. PITCH TRIM and ELEVATOR FEEL caution lights illuminate

    g. over speed warning horn is activated after 5 seconds
After releasing the test switch, all indications should return to normal and the warning horn should silence.

Holding the switch in the TEST 2 position checks the VMO Warning Tone Generator (WTG) and the related ADU 2 interfaces. Observe the same indications as mentioned above only on PFD 2 (with the exception of an SAT -15°C on the ED).

  • What do you think after seeing this? Although it may be an inherent characteristic possessed by Q 400 ...
The picture is a manual of a certain airline company.

Thanks for the share. Our manuals AMM and system manuals do not reflect this. This could very well be a software upgrade or added option which is not a part of the data based on the aircraft we modeled.

The likely hood of it being added to the Training edition at this time is not likely unless we can have all the supporting data linking the TCAS system with the ADC tests.
  • I understand! Thank you for your kindness. I am looking forward to the training version!
