Thanks for your reply. The airplane works fine.

I have the Pilot Edition in FSX-SE. Sometimes it loads with the GPU, but most often without. Why?
-
Mine does this in FSX; it's fine. Nothing to worry about.
-
Look at this page from Reddit. Follow the instructions precisely. He is using P3D, but the filenames would be quite similar in FSX.
-
On the lower left of the Holding Define page is an ARM HOLDING button. You push that after you have defined the pattern.

Thanks Jvan!

I think it's a good question! I have the Pilot version; mine will not overlay the CDI on the MFD, as in the first screenshot.

The FMS and map are not perfect in how they handle these things from place to place. First, did you arm (not activate) the approach in the FMS? If that doesn't work, try a DTO or a VNAV to the first fix on the approach.
-
A suggestion - look at the NAV page on the FMS, line 1 would read PPOS, line 2 would read CLN, line three (the NX line) should read whatever the next fix is on L260. If it doesn't, click on LSK3 and fix it.

In the US airspace system, it is normal to omit the third place after the decimal when speaking of frequencies. "One three two point seven seven" refers to 132.775, "One two three point zero two" refers to 123.025, etc.

Yours has autoland?

Try setting the altitude selector to the lowest altitude on your VNAV path. If you're flying an approach, set it to approximately the minimum descent altitude.
-
Jvan, two things: * I would guess that the altitude alerter is a CRM thing. It is vitally important that the crew understand the airplane's assigned altitude, and SOP would dictate that the assigned altitude always be set in the alerter, no ma…

Try all of the approaches to runway 26R. There is an RNAV and an NDB approach if I remember correctly. The Q400 FMS will do all of them as an RNAV overlay (with VNAV).
-
Guenther, if it went into "HDG INT", then you must have activated the approach. Do not do this. About 50 miles out, the NAV page will prompt you to "ARM APCH". Do this. Then the NAV page will prompt you to "TUNE APCH". Put your ARDCU into FM…

I don't think so... From paragraph 16.9.7. of Majestic's tutorial: "Approach types: The FMS will fly the following approach types as RNAV overlay approaches: RNAV approach NDB approach NDB-DME approach VOR approach VOR-DME approac…

I figured it out on about the 7th try... I flew to the IAF level at the initial altitude, and at the IAF the approach auto-activated. I waited for the VERTICAL ALERT and then set the altitude selector to field elevation and hit VNAV. It worked …
