In the mjc84.ini file you probably have the button for trim down assigned to TCS as well as having it assigned to trim down in the sim.

Trim up works fine but trimming down activates TCS and changes the the pitch FMA to "Pitch hold"...

You need to assign a button or key to TCS. As FraPre said, you have to hold the TCS button continually whilst you're making control input.

The answer was probably more theoretical, because on a flight I had to realize that the pushbutton TCS (for me) is not simulated.

As I read in system description issued here, Q400 has TCS mode and it's simulated on Pro version or higher.

There was no problem with the Q400. A couple of years ago I enabled TCS and assigned a button on my throttle to enable it. After years of flying the Q400, I don't think I used it more than three times
